Meanwhile, a full denture is an entire arch of prosthetic teeth on a special base designed to look just like your gums. It attaches to the gums via suction, while some patients also choose to use an adhesive for added security.

Your dentist takes an impression of your mouth so your custom-made dentures can be created in an external lab to fit your smile comfortably, aesthetically and securely.

If you need full dentures, any natural teeth remaining will be extracted under a local anaesthetic, before your denture fitting.

After you have been fitted with your dentures, your dentist will provide you with information on how to care for your dentures. It is important you visit your dentist for regular check-ups to maintain your oral health. Also, over time, your gums and jaw may change shape, which can affect the security and comfort of your dentures. Your dentist will check the fit and condition of your dentures at your dental check-up and re-align the dentures if necessary, to ensure a comfortable and snug fit.
